SPRINGER'S CHILD MALTREATMENT PREVENTION PRACTICES
- WE TAKE THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF OUR KIDS SERIOUSLY! -
Reporting Suspected Child Maltreatment: We provide annual training to all staff on recognizing the signs of child maltreatment. All employees have a legal duty to make a report to law enforcement or to Child Protective Services ("CPS") if they have reason to believe that a child has been or may be abused or neglected. CPS must be contacted when the abuser is believed to be caretaker; law enforcement should be contacted when abuser is believed to be someone other than a caretaker of the child. Professionals and parents have a legal duty to make this report orally within 48 hours and to follow that with a written report. You have not fulfilled your duty if you simply make a report to your supervisor. While we want you to inform the Executive Director if you believe a report is required, you must still make the report yourself. If you are not certain whether you have observed child abuse or neglect, you should err on the side of reporting. Professionals can receive sanctions against their certificates and any person can face criminal charges for knowingly failing to make a report of known or suspected child maltreatment. Your identity will be protected when you make a good faith report.
believe a child is being or has been neglected or physically or sexually abused within the preceding three years you must immediately (within 48 hours) make a report to an outside agency. If you are a parent with a child and suspect he or she is a victim of child abuse and need assistance, Springer’s Gymnastics LLC will refer you to CPS and provide you with the appropriate resources to help you identify and handle the situation. Springer’s will assist in educating the community by educating parents with resources and pamphlets periodically. Springer’s is always open to helping the public find appropriate resources and answer any questions they may have regarding abuse and neglect.
Where to Report If you know or suspect that a child is in immediate danger, call 9-1-1. Reports regarding incidents of suspected abuse or neglect of children occurring at a family child care program, within a family or in the community should be made to Texas Department of Family and Protective Services at www.txabusehotline or 1-800-252-5400.
What to Report Texas law requires caregivers to report suspected child maltreatment.
Failure to Report Failure to report suspected abuse or neglect is a crime. Employers are prohibited from retailing against caregivers who make reports in good faith.
